Chet History

Chet Waggoner which first began as Optimis Little League and later transformed into the Chet Waggoner Little League over 50 years ago.

In 1961, Ray Snyder, Larry Snyder, and Chet Waggoner played a pivotal role in establishing the foundation for the current multi-diamond complex located just south of the Toll Road. The league was named after Chester W. "Chet" Waggoner, a prominent figure in our community and a dedicated supporter of youth sports and community organizations. Chet Waggoner little league has continued to grow throughout the years since.

Chet Waggoner was not only a graduate of South Bend High School and an honorary alumni of Purdue University, but he was also deeply involved with the Boy Scouts of America, the Salvation Army, and various other organizations. His commitment to serving the community and empowering young individuals has left a lasting impact on all those who knew him.

Through Ray’s passion and dedication he ensured that CWLL remained a cherished place for the community.

At Chet Waggoner Little League, we reflect on Chet Waggoner's legacy and his contributions to our community. We are proud to continue his vision and dedication to youth sports and community involvement.
